Unit 8- Optimal Well-Being

Hello Everyone,

1. Review the exercises and practice sessions you have completed in this course. (Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation etc.) Choose two practices that you have determined to be most beneficial. How can you implement these practices in your personal life to foster “mental fitness”? Provide specific examples.

I feel that the two practices that have been most beneficial to me are Loving Kindness and Meditation. These two practices are most beneficial to me because I can focus on myself in becoming a better person. Meditation helps me relax, analyze situations, not become angered, and think things through. I can implement these practices into my personal life by meditating everyday and practice loving kindness to family, friends, co-workers, and people I have just met. I believe it is important to understand yourself as well as others. I also feel that before you can show loving kindness to others you have to show it to yourself first on the inside as well as the outside and in doing so meditation helps bring out the best in you.

  1. I find the Loving Kindness exercise and meditation to be beneficial as well. These two exercises do allow you to focus more on yourself. I think a lot of times people need to work on building themselves rather than focusing all of their attention on others. It helps to put the spotlight on you sometimes.
